The above video by Peter Wissinger shows a neat feature of Windows Phone 7 Mango and its HTML5 browser.

When visiting a website which uses HTML5 for audio playback, such as beat.no audio playback from the browser continues in the background and even behind the lock screen, and the user can use the native playback controls to control the stream.

In practical terms this means for many application scenarios, e.g. streaming from a home server, there is no real need for a native application, which should make solutions quick and easy for most companies or individuals to implement.
