Life360 Family Locator is a popular cross-platform family tracking app available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

The app uses the concept of Circles, and allows you to group your friends and family in the same. It uses GPS technology to locate all of the group members and it shows you each member on a map with their own icons. Alerts can be set up so you receive a notice when someone in your circle arrives or leaves a location, like home, school or work.

Messaging within Life360 allows you to quickly let everyone know things like where to meet for dinner or that it is time for the family to meet back up at a certain spot in the mall to head home.

The app came to Windows Phone in June 2014 and unfortunately appears to be on its way out from the platform.

On their support forum they write:

Why doesn’t the app work with Windows 10 phones?

We are unable to support the latest version of Windows devices. Life360 does not have any plans at this time to further develop the app for the Windows mobile device platform. The current version of Life360 is designed to work only on iPhone and Android smartphones.

The app in fact does still work both on Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone, but it is clear from the answers that any breaking changes will not be fixed.

The app is somewhat unique in its feature set, and includes integration with IFTTT which makes all kinds geo-fence based automation possible. For its few users it will certainly be missed, with Glympse offering the closest (but still not as comprehensive) replacement.

Life360 Family Locator is a free app, and can be found in the Windows Phone Store here while still available.
