In the interest of accelerating the development of AI devices for home, LG unveiled its first ever AI microprocessor. The AI chip will be able to “better mimic the neural network of the human brain,” thanks to its Neural Engine. LG’s plan is to introduce the AI-based chip in home appliances and consumer electronics devices.

Speaking of consumer electronics, LG’s chip can help your smartphone capture great night-light photos or at least that’s what the company says. According to the manufacturer, the chip will help in generating brighter and clearer images in dark environments, thanks to its “powerful image processing function.”

The AI Chip incorporates visual intelligence to better recognize and distinguish space, location, objects and users while voice intelligence accurately recognizes voice and noise characteristics while product intelligence enhances the capabilities of the device by detecting physical and chemical changes in the environment.

Talking about security, LG says its AI Chip employs a “powerful security engine to better protect personal data from external hacking”(via R&A).

LG promises to introduce this latest AI-based chip in its future LG products including washing machines, refrigerator, and air conditioners.
