Privacy is the main reason messaging app Telegram exists, but keeping your chat history private on your phone does not seem to be a big priority of the service. Unigram is the only officially certified 3rd party Telegram app for Windows and Windows Phone and has just seen an update to  0.11.983 which brings along a significant new feature.

The update brings a new Passcode Lock option to keep snoops out of your chat history, meaning it should be safer to hand your phone or PC to a friend.

The feature requires a PIN to open the app, and also supports your fingerprint reader. It also has an auto-lock option where the app will time out after a few minutes, selected by the user.

The update also brings along a number of other improvements.

The first is improvements to GIF playback, with users now able to disable auto-playback in settings, likely very useful if your PC is low-powered.

There are also UI improvements, with the original message now highlighted when you click on the reply option, while a new photo viewer now allows users to scroll through chat photos, videos, profile pictures and galleries and easily share them.

More languages are now supported, including Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Ukranian, Portuguese and Malay.

The update of course also brings the usual performance and stability improvements.

The latest update is available at the  Microsoft Store link below.
