The 2007 action game by film director John Woo, titled John Woo’s The Stranglehold, has just launched on GOG.

Taking on the role of Inspector Tequila from John Woo’s influential action movie Hard Boiled starring Chow Yun-Fat, you’ll face off your enemies in intense, film-ready shootouts and destroy your environment in real time or the revolutionary Tequila Time.

It’s an absolute riot, although we’re not sure it still holds up. Designed to be a perfect encapsulation of an action movie, The Stranglehold was a blast to play back in 2007.

With added support for Windows 8 and 10, this new GOG version should run properly on modern PCs.

Developed by Mortal Kombat developers Midway Games, before their closure in 2009, it was certainly a unique title on Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows. But now, you can get the game on GOG – right here!

The system requirements are as follows:

  • System: Windows 7 / 8 / 10
  • Processor: Intel Core Duo or equivalents
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 9.0c and higher compatible including the following: Nvidia Geforce 7800 or above/ ATI x1300 or above compliant video card
  • DirectX: Version 9.0b
  • Storage: 15 GB

Hopefully, this re-release will see at least a slight resurgence in adoration for the underrated title.
