Google is rolling out a new feature called Simplify to its Google app on iOS. The feature will help users make sense of complex information on the internet, without leaving the page.

Available currently on iOS devices, Google’s “Simplify” tool activates when a user selects text in the app, offering an easy-to-understand version in a cleaner format. It’s particularly useful for decoding medical terms or technical phrases that might otherwise require a separate search. Google showcased how terms like “emphysema” and “fibrosis” are rewritten with simpler definitions that retain their meaning while reducing confusion.
The feature is opt-in and currently only available in the iOS version of the Google app. Google has not yet confirmed plans to bring it to Android or the desktop. Early feedback during internal testing suggests users found the simplified output more helpful for understanding complicated subjects, though Google says it’s still evaluating performance and accuracy.
