Huawei’s chairman earlier confirmed that the Mate X will be launched in the month of October. Now, according to a cnBeta report, the company is sticking to its earlier promise and is all set to launch the foldable smartphone in China.

That said, there is no word as to when Huawei’s foldable smartphone will be available in parts of the world. The smartphone will initially be available only in the Chinese market that too in limited quantity due to difficulties in manufacturing.

Huawei was supposed to launch the Mate X foldable smartphone back in June, but the Chinese tech giant later pushed the release date.

Interestingly enough, Huawei never mentioned the reason behind the delay in the launch, unlike Samsung. The US ban might have played its part in forcing Huawei to push the launch date. Rumor also has it that Huawei’s smartphone was not ready for prime time and hence the company was forced to push the launch date further.

The Mate X will come with the latest Kirin 990 processor, a camera with a TOF sensor, and a larger button to unfold the device.
