Despite all their troubles Huawei has of course not stopped developing their future handsets, and going by a design patent uncovered by LetsGoDigital the company’s next folding phone may take a few tricks from the Samsung Galaxy Fold and fold the other way.

The design patent published by WIPO on the 18th June 2019 shows a dual-screened folding device just like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, with an external screen and a larger folding internal screen.

The device is however more refined than the Galaxy Fold, with a full-sized external screen and a tight internal fold radius.

The design, of course, has its advantages, such as protecting the internal screen, and going by the sketches appears to be in advanced development.

We are of course reminded that Huawei had admitted to exploring the Fold-like internally folding design before settling on the outwards folding version, and I suspect we may be looking at a prototype design rather than the next generation.

The full patent can be seen here.
