HTC patents slick new portrait slider

New HTC portrait slider design

As mentioned earlier, Thursday is patent day, and here we have another triumph by HTC’s hinge nerds.

Their latest effort is a new type of portrait slider which means after the device is opened both the previously top and bottom layers are now completely flat, thereby reducing that wasted space between the top and bottom layer where your thumbs cant reach, and resulting in a thinner device when fully extended.

We have seen a Windows Phone 7 portrait slider with the Dell Lightening, so hopefully HTC also has a real device using the nifty technology in store for us.
