We posted earlier about rumours that the HTC HD7 on T-Mobile USA has become unavailable online and on telesales due to stock running out.

TMoNews now confirms the rumours, with the T-Mobile website now saying “this item is not available for immediate shipment” and Customer Care saying the phone is on back order.

In a statement T-Mobile USA said the phones were seeing "strong interest" and a spokeswoman for AT&T said the company is "encouraged by early demand."

While AT&T spokeswoman Colleen Smith did not share sales figures she did say "We did have lines in some of our markets across the nation," she said. "There definitely was anticipation for the phone."

Will Stofega, an analyst at research firm IDC in Framingham, Mass. said "It’s a monumental step forward. … It is something that’s unique and different."

"A lot of people focus on the fact that unless you have a line circling three times around a New York City block that you’ve launched a failure, but I think what we’ve seen is that people are interested in these alternative devices and they’re willing to take a look at them,", going on to note that shortages have occurred after the launch in Europe also.
