HTC confirms no Asian language support in Windows Phone 7 until H2 2011

nochineseinwp7We have heard some time ago that support for scripts such as Chinese and Japanese will not appear in Windows phone 7 until some time next year.

Now a recent Digitimes report confirms that countries like China and Korea would have to wait till the second half of 2011 before Windows Phone 7 handsets will arrive in their country.

HTC Asia vice president Jack Tong did however say English speaking countries in the area, such as Singapore and Australia, would have access to smartphones running the OS, but the rest of the region will be served with Android handsets, providing the OS with an increased advantage in the region.

He did however note that early sales of windows phone 7 sales looked promising, but substantial market penetration will have to wait until the introduction of different language versions.
