HP recently started taking pre-orders for the Elite x3 throughout the world. In fact, some users already own the Elite x3. For those unfamiliar, the HP Elite x3 ships with Windows 10 Mobile Version 1511 (build 10586.420), which isn’t the latest version of the OS. Version 1511 works pretty well, but you won’t be able to use one of the main features of the x3 — and that’s the fingerprint scanner. Once you upgrade to the Anniversary Update via the Insider Program’s Release Preview ring, you will be able to use the Fingerprint Scanner on the x3. The Anniversary Update also works pretty well on the x3, but there are some issues with it — for example, the camera keeps constantly crashing.

Now, HP is working on a new firmware update for the HP Elite x3 which adds a couple of new features and improves the overall experience of the OS.ย HP is adding some really nice Windows Hello features to the x3 with the upcoming firmware. The company is adding a new Iris Camera Preview, which will show a preview of the camera on the lockscreen when you double tap it. This will make it easier for you to unlock the device via Irisย since it can be pretty annoying to use Iris at times. In addition to this, the company has also added a new Iris Anti=Spoofingg feature, which will protect against Iris spoofing attempts:

Secondly, HP is adding two other new features with the upcoming firmware: one being the HP Display Tools app, and the other is Double Tap To Wake. With the HP Display Tools, you will be able to control when the device’s display gets dimmed, and more. HP is also introducing Double Tap To Wake with the upcoming firmware update — the company will also allow users to control the Double Tap Sensitivity and the duration between ย the taps, which is a nice touch.

Lastly, the upcoming firmware update will add a new Calculator app for the device. HP is calling it the “HP 12C Financial Calculator for X3.” This is a powerful calculator app, which can be really useful when using the phone in landscape mode. If you don’t like the app, you can simply uninstall it and use the default Calculator app on Windows 10.
