Indian startup, Notion Ink in partnership with Microsoft conducted an event or rather a bloggers meet yesterday in which they showcased the new Cain Signature Edition, a docking station and an universal stylus. The company also opened up to share some details about its relationship with Microsoft and Microsoft’s spokesperson talked about Windows 10 and also hinted that the Windows 10 install numbers more than 75 million which is the official number shared by Microsoft.
The event was scheduled to start at 12:15 PM at Microsoft Corporate Office in Bangalore but due to some technical glitches (which were resolved quickly) it got delayed. Finally as the event started, Harish from Microsoft grabbed the stage to share some quick info about Windows as well as the agenda for the day. After that, Rohan, CEO of Notion Ink came up and discussed about some of the past experiences and how the company evolved to be like it is now.
After this he had a list of features to be shared which makes the Signature Edition 2-in-1 different from others. Below is the list of those features.
- Bold design
- Universal Stylus that can work on any device with touch screen
- New Docking Station
- New design to absorb extra heat
- USB 3.0, HDMI port (Not available in other 2-in-1 devices)
- Supports Continuum
At the last he shared that Notion Ink has became number 1Â in online sales of 2-in-1 devices(We are talking about detachable devices and not the convertibles). Then he continued with his presentation showing how the device has been build. After this again, Harish took the stage to share some facts of Notion as well as some more details about Windows 10. Post this we had a Q&A session. This was the interesting part. All though Notion Ink had a very bad experience in Western countries especially in US but they are planning to go out and releasing this device in US. As for now, they told that they will move to Europe and then America. In fact they have started selling the device in Germany.
After the Q&A session, we were guided to another room for lunch and had a demo session of the devices. I was really, really moved by the docking station. Below are the features of docking station:
- Small and has a premium finish
- Has 2 speakers which are amazing for listening music at home (off course you won’t use them in a party)
- It has a space at the bottom where you can actually insert your Hard Drive and expand storage
- It also has USB ports, Ethernet port for LAN connectivity
If you ask me then I loved the dock more than the device itself. Anyways, moving on I had some discussion with the CEO of Notion Ink in regards with the limited storage. I was unhappy with that but he also made some valid points considering that there is no extra Hard drives. Also he gave a hint that there might be a device with 265 GB SSD coming really soon from Notion Ink. Moreover he also dropped a little hint that Notion Ink might consider entering in the Windows Phone segment. Finally, I had a brief chat with Microsoft employees present. I actually got a tip that we might see some nice device running Windows 10 Mobile on 6th October and he also confirmed that the employees will get to see those on 3rd October that means there is a good chance of devices getting leaked which he was indirectly trying to convey.
To sum-up, I must say the event was well organized and we had a good time understanding what Notion Ink is trying to deliver. I really liked the devices and would love to see more like these from them. For now you can go ahead and check out our Unboxing and first impressions of the Notion Ink Cain Signature Edition device Here. Also don’t forget to check out the stills from yesterday’s event.
