Mozilla has been working on implementing Picture and Picture mode in web video in Firefox Nightly Builds.

The feature has now passed major milestones and can be tested by Firefox Nightly users when the right flag is enabled.

To activate the feature:

  1. Ensure you’re using latest Firefox Nightly
  2. Visit about:config
  3. Find the following preference and change its value to true.
    media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.enabled

This should allow testers to open video in an Always on Top video for easier multi-tasking.

Visit YouTube, play any video, right click on it twice and select ‘Picture in Picture”, voila! You can view the video on top of other windows on system

The feature is already present in Chrome though its availability appears rather patchy.
