Watch our hands on video of the Skype beta app embedded above!

Skype is finally here, and available for everyone to download. However, it’s not completely finished yet and definitely feels like a beta.

Here’s what you WILL find in the Skype beta:

  •  IM and group IM’s
  • Phone calls and video calls
  • Ability to view profiles and accept friend requests
  • Toggle between speakerphone and earpiece
  • Manually turn your screen off while in a call (to avoid tapping things on screen)

And here’s what is NOT in the Skype beta app yet (but I’m sure will be implemented in the final version)

  • Reliable messaging/calling (I have missed calls or friend requests while in the app)
  • A live tile
  • Push notifications
  • Searching for and requesting new friends

qrcodeOverall, it’s excellent to finally have Skype on Windows Phone. Despite the issues with the beta, this app will still come in handy in those situations when you need to talk to your friend on Skype but aren’t at home. And the best thing is that the app will only get better!

Download the Skype beta in the Marketplace.
