Rumor: Are we getting Halo 7 release date?

A recent job listing from 343 Industries has sparked speculation that the studio is working on a new Halo game. Does this mean a new Halo 7 release date is on the way? Well, take this with a grain of salt.

The listing, which is for a Principal Software Engineering Manager, specifically mentions that the position is for “the next generation of games and experiences in the studio’s award-winning Halo universe.” 

Sure, it does mention “Halo” explicitly, and this isn’t the only job listing that has been posted recently that suggests that 343 Industries is working on a new Halo game. In the past month, two other listings have been posted that also mention the next generation of games set in the Halo universe. 

And, there are still no words from the devs if it’ll be called “Halo 7” or something else.

“Your role will entail leading the Infrastructure and Delivery team and collaborating closely with key stakeholders throughout the Studio. Together, you will develop and prioritize backlog products that are critical to enhancing the game developer experience and game delivery systems,” the job description reads.

The last Halo game, Halo Infinite, was released in 2021 and is set in the year 2560. It was met with critical acclaim, with many reviewers calling it one of the best Halo games of all time. The game was praised for its graphics, gameplay, and story. It sold over 20 million copies within the first year, so the stake is high for devs to replicate the magic.

If you remember back in April, Halo Infinite creative head Joseph Staten left Microsoft, so it’s going to be challenging for the devs to bring “Halo 7” to life.
