GPD, the company behind the crazy 5.5-inch Windows 10 PC designed for gaming has had a successful launch for their follow-up 7-inch Windows 10 laptop, the GPD Pocket, which has hit its $200,000 funding target on Indiegogo within hours, with 2 more months to go.

The device comes with a 7-inch touch screen display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The device will sport an in Intel Atom x7-Z8700 Cherry Trail processor, so don’t expect a super snappy experience but it should be fast enough to get basic work done. For the storage, GPD will include 128GB and 4GB for the RAM. The mini-PC will also sport a 7,000 mAh battery with a claimed 12 hour run time.

The full specs are:

  • 7-inch 1920×1200 IPS display
  • Intel Atom x7-Z8700
  • 4GB RAM
  • 128GB storage
  • All-in-one body made of magnesium and alloy
  • 180×106×18.5mm / 480g
  • 7000mAh battery
  • USB Type-C, USB A 3.0, HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • Bluetooth 4.1

GPD is currently selling its Pocket device via Indiegogo for $399 for the cheapest configuration, with the full retail price expected to be $599.

GPD interestingly compares it to the Macbook Air or Surface 3, though I suspect this may not be a true reflection of how useful the device is.

The GPD Pocket certainly is quite an interesting device, not as your main PC, but as a way to get some work done on the go when only a PC will do.  The micro-PC will not be a powerhouse, but if you’re looking for a tiny Windows 10 laptop that you can use wherever you go, the GPD Pocket might just be the device you’re looking for.
