Google rolls out text message spam protection features

If you use Android Messages on your phone or Windows desktop via the progressive web app, Google is rolling out a new message to protect users from spam messages with spam protection.

Google will likely be using similar techniques as it does with Gmail and will need to scan the content of the messages – obviously.

To help protect against spam some data about your messages, but not any content, is set to Google.

Spam messages are a problem in some regions like India, and Google’s Stock SMS app provides an easy and free way to deal with that. Combined with the reach of the Messages app, and the firm should at least put a large dent in the influx of spam. Android Messages spam protection is rolling out via the Google Play Store now.
