The biggest issue with in-display fingerprint readers is that the target area is hidden, meaning that users have to be rather precise about where they place their fingers.
Now AU Optronics has showcased what they say is the world’s first full screen optical in-cell fingerprint reader.
AUO’s 6-inch full screen optical in-cell fingerprint LTPS LCD installs an optical sensor within the LCD structure. Equipped with AHVA technology, 1080 x 2160 resolution and 403 PPI pixel density, the panel has a full-screen sensing area with the same 403 PPI sensor density and 30ms sensor response time, said AUO.
