imageFring departed Windows Mobile in March 2011, and never made a client for Windows Phone.

It seems us 3 percenters have finally gathered enough numbers to re-ignite interest in the platform however, with Fring telling VOIP focussed site Trutower that a Windows Phone 8 client is indeed on their roadmap. No specific release date was offered however.

They were however able to confirm that they had no plans to release a Blackberry 10 app any time soon .

Windows Phone 8 has specific hooks for VOIP apps which allow them to work in the background and make use of the dialer and other phone infrastructure, and one hopes when Fring does end up on the platform it will take advantage of all the integration it offers out of the box.
