There are a large number of simply Notes app in the Microsoft Store but few offer any convenience over the basic NotePad app that comes with all versions of Windows.

Today we have news of an app which may make the lives of our readers a bit easier. Quick Pad is a NotePad replacement which is designed to quickly jot down notes.

It offers features such as the ability to use Rich Text and support for emojis, but it’s main selling point is support for an Always On Top mode via Microsoft’s Compact Overlay API.

This is accessible via a large button in the UI which makes it easy to switch into and out of and allows users to easily collect notes from web pages or applications which do not make it easy to copy and paste information.

See screenshots of the app below.

The app appears to work well, but would benefit from automatically saving notes, and offering multiple instances of the text editor (the developer says this is coming in the near future).

The app is normally $0.99, but is free for a limited time.

Find it in the Store here.
