Flurry is a mobile analytics, monetization, and advertising company founded in 2005. The company develops and markets a platform for analyzing consumer interactions with mobile applications, solutions for marketers to advertise in-apps, as well as a service for applying monetization structures to mobile apps.

The company currently supports Windows Phone, amongst numerous other platforms, but it seems that is not set to last, with their technical support telling Windows developer Martin Suchan:

flurry out

At this point it is not known if the Windows Phone and 8 SDK was “permanently shelved” due to lack of uptake or simply due to Microsoft’s Windows 10 plans which would make them redundant, but not supporting Windows 10, which should hit hundreds of millions of PCs in the next month shows a clear lack of confidence that Modern and Universal apps will be a relevant player.

Fortunately Microsoft does have a drop in replacement for the service called Visual Studio Application Insights, more of which can be read about here.

With Microsoft’s recent announcements the company clearly has to work very hard to win back developer confidence, though it is not clear if Nadella’s heart is really into that, or similar to Flurry’s concentrated on an alternative cross platform strategy.
