- Microsoft is adding machine learning-powered autofill to Edge on Android.
- The feature promises to predict and fill forms and your personal data will remain secure.
- The company also added a Share button for Copilot’s pane on Edge.
Microsoft, just like any other tech firm on God’s green earth, is working on a lot of AI features for its products, including Edge on Android.
A recent spot from browser enthusiast @Leopeva64 on X reveals a new addition to Edge on Android’s Settings page. Now, there’s a toggle to “enable machine learning powered autofill” that can let the AI handle the auto-filling for you.
The feature’s description reads, “Allows ML technology to predict and fill in forms and text fields for better browsing. Your personal data is secure and will not be used elsewhere.”
Microsoft similarly added the same feature on Edge on the desktop some months ago, and it seems like the Redmond tech giant is ready to expand it to mobile users.
But still, while Microsoft promises that it won’t use your personal data elsewhere, there are still concerns about its practices, which isn’t surprising considering the company’s not-so-good reputation in handling data during this surging AI race.
A user on the Microsoft and Reddit forums previously asked how to disable the “Enable machine learning powered autofill suggestions” in Microsoft Edge through Group Policy or Registry settings.
Because, as things stand for now, there is no Group Policy Object (GPO) to control this setting, and you must manually toggle it on the Edge settings page.
Still from AI on Edge-related news, Microsoft introduced a “Share” button on Copilot’s pane on Edge that lets you create shareable links for AI chats.
