The Mate 30 Pro is Huawei’s first Android flagship that doesn’t officially provide users the luxury to run Google apps, thanks to the Sino-American trade war. However, running Google apps on Huawei’s recent flagship seemed as easy as clicking a few buttons with the arrival of LZPlay, an app that was designed to help users run Google apps on Huawei Mate 30 Pro, and it worked flawlessly.

Unfortunately for Huawei Mate 30 Pro buyers, LZPlay app is no longer available for download as the app was taken offline following the release of preliminary research of John Wu, who is a security researcher working for Google. In his research, Wu talked about how the app was able to install Google apps.

Folks at 9to5Google are arguing that Wu’s research might have revealed something that was never meant to get out to the public. And as a result, the developer of the IZPlay had to take the app down.

Those who have been using Google apps on Mate 30 Pro can no longer run them as they now fail Google’s SafetyNet tests. In other words, Google apps that were already installed on you Mate 30 Pro no longer works.

The Mate 30 Pro, undoubtedly, has powerful specs, so the expectations are quite huge. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the absence of Google apps negatively influences consumers’ purchasing decisions.
