According to Microsoft LG is a Windows Phone OEM, but despite numerous rumours we have never seen tangible results from the company in terms of Windows Phone handsets.

That may be set to change however, with Digitimes reporting that LG has resumed cooperation with low-cost ODMs like Arima Communications, who specialize in entry-level 3G phones, and are planning to order 2 million phones.

We do not expect these handsets to be Windows Phones, but Digitimes speculate that to sustain growth follow-up orders may include some Windows Phone handsets.

LG executive Director Kwon Soon has previously said:

“At home (South Korea), we are actually working on our Windows Phone 8 OS powered smartphone.”

“Android is the major platform globally, given its acceptance and penetration. Although, we believe that Windows will pick up going ahead, as Microsoft is pumping efforts into it.”

Via GSMInsider, thanks Ahmad for the tip.
