Despite Microsoft and Dropbox working closely together on Office, the two companies are still competitors, and Microsoft would not mind poaching a few of the hundreds of millions of Dropbox users.

Microsoft’s latest offer to temp users away from Dropbox is by offering a free 100 GB of storage for one year if you can verify that you have a Dropbox account.  Microsoft does this by saving a document to your Dropbox.
