Dead Rising 4 was one of the last big Xbox One releases of 2016, coming out all the way back on December 6th. Despite not being part of Xbox Play Anywhere it also featured a PC version that was temporarily exclusive to the Windows Store, with the exclusivity deal for PC originally planned to last just 90 days – significantly shorter than the year long console exclusivity on the Xbox One.

98 days have passed since the original release of the game, leaving Capcom free to release the game outside of the Windows Store – although it’s still only available on Windows. The system requirements to run the game’s Steam release are almost identical to the Windows Store version, just with one difference: the minimum operating system is the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

This is definitely good news for fans of the franchise who either want to play the game with some Steam-specific features (i.e the in-game overlay) or just don’t have Windows 10 – over 38% of Steam users are still running 64 bit versions of Windows prior to 10, with over 31% of all Steam users being Windows 7 x64 users.

It’s currently unknown if Capcom will end up bringing Dead Rising 4 to any other PC gaming stores/services, although none of the previous PC ports have found their way to any services other than Steam.
