Key notes
- Microsoft is launching “Think Deeper” for all Copilot users, including free ones.
- It provides advanced reasoning powered by OpenAIโs o1 model but has a three-response-per-week cap for free users.
- Microsoft is also adding DeepSeek R1 to Copilot+ PCs and making it available via Azure AI & GitHub.
Think Deeper, one of the flagship features of the paid Copilot Pro subscription tier, is now launching for everyone, even for free users.
Mustafa Suleyman, the head of Microsoft AI organization, posted on X that Think Deeper is now live on Copilot and powered by OpenAI’s reasoning-excelling model, the o1, at no cost.
Microsoft also promises that Think Deeper will soon have access to the internet or web access. Suleyman said that the feature “is in the works” after being asked by users on X.
Think Deeper is a big tool for learning and problem-solving. It can give you in-depth career advice, generate structured plans for complex projects, and enable deep dives into various topics. Unlike regular Copilot answers, Think Deeper actually gives you the breakdown of what’s going on behind the chatbot to give you that answer.
Some Copilot users have been getting the “Think Deeper” button on their Copilot chatbox in the past few days, and with today’s announcement, Redmond is now making it official. But still, it comes with a three-response per-week cap, unlike paid Pro users who get variable limits depending on demand.
With a $20 monthly price tag and a month of free trial, Copilot Pro offers users preferred access to advanced AI models, extended Copilot Voice usage, and early access to experimental features. It integrates well with Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
Microsoft also said that it’s bringing DeepSeek R1, the now-surging AI model from China that disrupted the US market, to its Copilot+ PCs. And, developers can also try the open-source model directly via Azure AI & GitHub.
