CBS has announced in their Windows 10 app that they will no longer be supporting their windows 10 “tablet” app.

The app will also be discontinued for Windows 10 Mobile, and the associated support article suggests the two are connected, as CBS blames Microsoft “discontinuing production of this device”.

In an associated article CBS suggests users in Windows 10 create a desktop shortcut of the CBS All Access website to continue streaming from the service.

It had been expected that UWP apps would not be affected by the discontinuation of support for Windows 10 Mobile, but surprisingly multiple companies have discontinued their desktop apps due to the end of support of their mobile Windows 10 apps.

Microsoft is hoping the rise of PWA apps will make the need for Store apps irrelevant as users get the full app experience by simply installing the web app instead from their browser.
