It’s January 2025 already. And, despite being months away from its original launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continues to break matrics and charts here and there.
Sony has recently revealed the list of PlayStation Store’s most downloaded games of December 2024. Black Ops 6, once again, topped the PS5 chart of most downloaded games in the US market, bringing the streak to three consecutive months since its launch in October.
Black Ops 6 also ranks second for PS5’s most downloaded game in the EU market, trailing behind EA FC 25, which has been on discount for quite some time. In both November and October (BO6’s launch month), Activision’s popular first-shooter ranked first on both EU and US markets.
Black Ops 6 is the first Call of Duty title to arrive on day one on Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. And it broke a lot of records too for most players, most hours played, and most matches in the first 30 days of any Call of Duty title.
In the US market, the Black Ops 6 launch even caused a drop in spending on games in the US market in November 2024.
Analysts over at Circana attributed the trend to the game’s availability on Game Pass, which lets you play it even for as low as $1 with PC Game Pass’ 14-day trial. The game went on to become the second best-selling game in the US that month and drove an 8% growth in game subscriptions.
Microsoft is even planning to add more Call of Duty games to Game Pass. Previously, we reported that Microsoft quietly added Call of Duty: World at War and more COD classics to the Microsoft Store
