Google recently introduced Gemini, a new AI model in different sizes, including Ultra, Pro, and Nano. Gemini Pro is the focal point for developers and enterprises looking to leverage advanced AI capabilities in their applications.

Gemini Pro has been integrated into various Google products, including Android’s Pixel 8 Pro and a specifically tuned version in Bard.

Gemini Pro currently accepts text input and generates textual output. A dedicated Gemini Pro Vision multimodal endpoint also allows text and imagery inputs with textual output, enabling diverse applications. It supports 38 languages across 180+ countries and territories.

Developers benefit from Software Development Kits (SDKs) for Python, Android (Kotlin), Node.js, Swift, and JavaScript, ensuring versatile integration possibilities tailored to specific needs.

In the announcement, Google also talked about Google AI Studio, a developer tool operating on the web. It provides quick development and API key acquisition, with a free quota of 60 requests per minute. This makes starting and transferring projects to desired Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) easy.

Developers can shift from Google AI Studio to Vertex AI on Google Cloud, a fully managed AI platform. Vertex AI offers customization options for Gemini and enterprise-grade security, privacy, data governance, and compliance.

Developers have free access to Gemini Pro and Gemini Pro Vision through Google AI Studio. Still, charges per 1,000 characters or image are anticipated after general availability early next year across both platforms.
