You may have heard of the highly popular hyper-local weather app for the iPhone known as Dark Sky. You no longer have to be envious of your iPhone friends since the new app Blue Sky uses the same information as the Dark Sky app to tell you up to the minute if it will rain or snow in the next hour. Unlike the Dark Sky app, Blue Skies brings the weather to your homescreen using the Windows Phone live tile capabilities.
These are some of the additional features found in the app:
- summary of next hour
- summary of next 24 hours
- 12 hour forecast
- 5 day forecast
- Detailed weather information including: precipitation, humidity, sunrise, sunset
- Displays severe weather warnings and advisories
- Live tile with small, medium, and wide tile sizes
- Choose the live tile update frequency to reduce battery consumption
- Simple and easy to use
- Beautifully designed
Blue Skies is free until May 1st so grab it while it’s hot! After May 1st there will be a nearly fully featured trial version which will not have live tile capabilities. You will be able to get the app with live tiles for $1.29.
Check it out for yourself at www.windowsphone.com. Stay tuned, there are plans for future updates to bring feature parity with the official Dark Sky app.
