Microsoft has recently released Bing Maps V8 Summer Update with many new features including support for support for custom map styles, GeoXml module and more. With GeoXML module support, developers can easily import and export common spatial file formats such as KML, KMZ, GeoRSS, GML (via GeoRSS) and GPX. They can load it as a layer on the map or directly access the data with just a few lines of code. Developers can now overlay georeferenced images on top of the map so that they move and scale as users pan and zoom the map.

This update also comes with support custom map styles. Developers can now customize the look and feel of the road maps. They can change the colors of the roads and land, hide certain types of labels. The custom maps styles are also available with the Bing Maps REST Imagery service (static map images) and with the Windows UWP map control.
