Beep – a safety app, is now available on the Windows Phone Store equipped with an alert tile. You can download Beep from the Windows Phone Store here.
Beep allows users to create an emergency contact list, and set an alert message within the app. Once configured, users can compose an emergency message and send it swiftly during period of crisis.
One of the short comings of Windows Phone due it’s highly secure nature is that applications are not allowed to send out text messages without user confirmation on message compose. Beep tried cover this with a “Live Tile” that can be pinned to the phone’s home screen to compose the message and confirm to send it out. This reduces the number of taps necessary.
Beep also appends the users location to the text message in form of a Google Maps URL. Optionally users can let Beep track their location in the background. This helps Beep use the last known location of the user incase GPS services are unavailable.
Beep shall come as a relief to users especially from India, as a host of powerful safety/alert apps have been shipped to competing platforms while Windows Phone has been lagging due to lack of powerful API.
How can you make an app “for the safety of women” and release it only on iOS and Android? Not #VithU, if you have Windows Phones.

Over the next few months Beep aims to add more features to ensure easier access to alert messages.
