Klonoa Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has filed trademarks for both “Waffuu Encore” and “1&2 Encore,” Gematsu reports, which indicate possible Klonoa remasters in the works.

While these trademarks are in code, thankfully they’re not too difficult to decipher, as Waffuu is Bandai Namco’s code for the Klonoa franchise, since it’s a phrase of titular protagonist Klonoa, and Encore is what they subtitle their remasters.

Putting these two things together it’s not too hard to surmise that at least a remaster of the original Klonoa is in the works, especially since Bandai Namco also registered a Klonoa Encore trademark in Japan back in 2019.

While it’s slightly more cryptic, it’s believed that the new trademark for “1&2 Encore” refers to a remaster of both Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and its sequel Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil, however, it’s possible this trademark could refer to a different remaster entirely.

If another Klonoa remaster is in the works then it would be the second time that the game has been remade, as the original Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was remade for the Nintendo Wii back in 2008, however, we’ve not seen anything from the series since then.

With only trademarks having been filed so far, there’s no telling when these games might come out if they even are what they suspect them to be. Hopefully, we can find out more details soon, but these games are likely a while away from release yet.
