baidu vs chatgpt

In the latest development of Baidu vs ChatGPT, the Chinese tech giant said that its new AI, Ernie 3.5, outpowers the popular chatbot on several benchmark tests.

According to an exclusive report by China Science Daily, Ernie 3.5 overtakes ChatGPT and GPT-4 in two AI benchmarks AGIEval and C-Eval.

Baidu has announced that its latest model offers improved efficiency in both training and inference, making it well-suited for faster and more cost-effective iterations in the future. Additionally, Baidu has stated that their new model will be compatible with external “plugins” and is more efficient than ChatGPT and GPT 4 on Chinese language tests, college qualifications, or bar exams for lawyers.

“We are thrilled to announce the iteration of our foundation model, ERNIE, to version 3.5. ERNIE 3.5 has made significant strides in beta testing, surpassing ChatGPT (3.5) in comprehensive ability scores and outperforming GPT-4 in several Chinese language capabilities,” says the tech giant in a press release.

Earlier today, Baidu unveiled the most recent version of its Ernie bot, an acronym for Enhanced Representation from kNowledge IntEgration. The initial release of the Ernie bot took place in Beijing back in March 2023, but it received a lukewarm response from the public. Many individuals expressed disappointment, perceiving it as a rushed and underwhelming launch.

In contrast, OpenAI made waves in the AI community earlier this year with the release of their latest technology, GPT-4. This new version surpassed its predecessor, GPT-3.5, in terms of power and capabilities.

One notable advancement is the introduction of multi-modal capabilities, allowing users to input not only text but also pictures or voices. This enhancement enables users to interact with the bot using various modes and prompts it to perform specific tasks based on their input.
