Last week we reported that Badoo’s app had been pulled from the Windows Store for phones running Windows 10 Mobile for reasons unknown.
Badoo reached out to us to clarify shortly after, stating:
Badoo is currently unavailable for download on Windows 10. This, however, was not intentional and we are working with Microsoft to resolve the issue. The Windows Phone community is important to Badoo and we are continuously working to provide value and new experiences for our Windows users.
Now, as promised, the Windows phone app is now once more available for Windows 10 Mobile users from the Windows Store. It’s worth noting that Badoo sees value in its Windows phone offering despite the small size, stating:
3% of our mobile client users are on Windows phone, but this actually represents hundreds of thousands of users, which means we have enough users to create test groups and conduct experiments. Our experiments aren’t always the usual A/B tests but A/B/C/D tests as well, which is where we have four groups including the control group.
It also means that if we roll out something that doesn’t work, it doesn’t affect the activity of the majority of our users.
What this means for Windows phone users is that despite its relatively small place in the market, the firm sees it as an opportunity to get feedback on new features and experiences from a live audience using the Windows store update mechanisms and more. It’s a fascinating read, and something you should check out if you want to know more.
