Imagine that you’re heading to work and realize you’re running late for an important meeting. Fortunately, you can join the meeting while driving to work using your car’s Android Auto.

Microsoft Teams is bringing its online meeting capabilities to Google’s Android Auto platform in February 2024. This new integration will allow users to join meetings, access calendars, and call contacts directly through their car’s infotainment system.

Users can easily view and join upcoming meetings with a tap or voice command and call colleagues or clients without switching apps.

Hands-free controls minimize distractions and promote safer driving practices. However, joining a meeting while driving can be dangerous, at least to me.

This feature has been added to the roadmap for January 4, 2024. It will be available on Android and iOS platforms and rolled out globally, including GCC. Feature ID: 369470.

According to this post, Android Auto has already been integrated with 200 million cars. The addition of Microsoft Teams is a great step forward. Additionally, Google has revealed that the adoption of Android Automotive, a full-fledged infotainment operating system, has increased in the past year. Car manufacturers have started to phase out internal infotainment systems and adopt Google’s operating system instead.
