epicwin2Readers would known that we are pretty hungry for numbers here at WMPoweruser.com.  We therefore greatly welcome this titbit via Techcrunch, were a developer revealed some number regarding the performance of their app in Marketplace, and also compared it to the iPhone App store.

iTotsApps, the company which makes Toddler Flashcards, revealed that they are selling about 7.5 copies of their app per day in Marketplace, compared to 71.5 per day in the iPhone App store.  The app is currently ranked the 21st top paid app and 709th app in total in Marketplace.

Now while this may at first glance appear to be be bad news, in truth its rather amazing.  The iOS platform has an installed base of more than 100 million, whereas Windows phone 7 is likely less than 1 million.  This means Windows phone 7 users are consuming his app at 10 times the rate as iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad owners.

Of course there could be a number of reasons why the app performs a lot better in Marketplace than the App store, including less competition, but whatever the reason, it is clear now is a good time for a developer to port their app to Windows phone 7 and get a first mover advantage, before Marketplace fills up.
