Apple’s Jony Ive preparing to copy Metro

Will Apple’s stretched leather “olde Westy” look turn into a clean, modern design.

The BGR reports that Apple’s executive in charge of iOS, after the ousting of Scott Forstall, is set to overhaul the look of the dated OS to bring a more Modern Look.

According to the Time’s sources Ive’s iOS makeover will incorporate “clean edges, flat surfaces” to “replace the textures that are all over the place right now,”  making “software designed to look like real-life textures, such as linen or felt, is expected to become a thing of the past.”

It is almost as of iOS will be catching the “Authentically Digital” bug, isn’t it?

Of course Apple would simply be following a trend – Google has already adopted these design principles led by Mathias Duarte, with their OS and apps concentrating a lot more on text and white spaces rather than ridiculous graphics.

I guess if the future is going to end up looking like the future even Apple will have to come along eventually…
