Apple Stores are well-known targets for smash and grab robbers, but it seems those thieves may be missing a trick, as it seems to be even easier to rip off a Microsoft Store.
Broadcast network KOIN is reporting that the Portland Microsoft Store has been robbed of $50,000 of merchandise (laptops, tablets and other items) by thieves who merely went into the store and walked out with the laptops.
The robberies were committed by multiple thieves (3 at last count) over a 4 month period. In fact, the thieves were only caught after returning to the scene of the crime to steal more.
One person who was arrested was suspected of stealing items that same day and 3 days earlier, while another is accused of stealing items “multiple times” in November.
The investigation is currently ongoing, but we hope Microsoft’s data security is better than the physical security at their Store.
