Alien Isolation

Amidst the announcement of yesterday’s Alien: Blackout, the now-confirmed not-sequel mobile game, FoxNext also announced a new MMO shooter under the Alien IP.

Within Blackout’s press release, FoxNext ends the announcement with a teaser for their next Alien game.

“FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC,” the announcement says.

While it’s not the Isolation sequel many of us still want, a high-budget Aliens game this far into the console generation has the potential to be great. Then again, Colonial Marines was released at the end of its generation and released to very negative critical reception.

Hopefully, despite its MMO origins, this upcoming Alien shooter manages to expand further on the lore of the Alien universe. Maybe, with a return from Amanda Ripley, we could also see an extension of her story. After all, Blackout will not be a sequel to her tale.
