In October last year Microsoft purchased AltSpaceVR, a social platform for virtual reality.

The service brings people together in virtual reality from over 160 countries to attend meetups, comedy shows, yoga classes, dance parties, and large-scale events.

Now at the monthly Town Hall event, Alex Kipman is announcing some of the first improvements Microsoft will be bringing to the community.

At the event, Microsoft will be announcing a new Hangout Space.

Called “Origin”, the new and enigmatic environment is designed for bringing people together.

Microsoft is also creating a new Community Leaders Program designed to make it easier for users to find nice people to talk to and ask your questions to. Microsoft will be deputizing members of the community who will be marked with a special lightning bolt badge, and who will always be ready to offer advice and other interactions. This should help first-time users settle more easily into the environment.

Microsoft is also bringing a number of new experiences in the form of two new activities that can be turned into full game shows.

  • Tongue-tied: Get the right word from your brain to your lips. Better be a quick thinker! Players compete to be the best at naming 6 items based on a category. The trick? You only have six seconds. Play now and see who is can think on their feet.
  • Trivia: Beat your friends to the answer in this fast-paced trivia game between an audience of people. If you make it to the finals, you’ll face-off in a final game show on stage against the best of the best.
