We know, rather controversially, that the Nokia Sea Ray does not have physical buttons in front. Now the great Russian sage Eldar Murtazin has added his two cents to the debate by saying that the Windows Phone 7 hardware design guidelines does not in fact call for hardware buttons in front, and that we will see more such virtual button devices from OEMs like Samsung, LG and HTC.

There have been rumours of Android and even the iPhone moving to a fully button-less design already, and such a change would certainly make it just a bit cheaper for OEMs to design and manufacture handsets.  In terms of actual utility however I am sure most of our readers would feel it is a step backwards, likely increasing the number of accidental button, already a problem with capacitive buttons, exponentially.

How do our readers feel about fully button-less devices? Let us know below.
