We have seen some evidence that the Lumia 950 XL will feature a front-facing flash.
Now the WC reports that they have also seen this feature on the recently leaked Lumia 550.
The affordable handset is said to feature the following specs:
- 1.1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core (unconfirmed)
- Removable SD
- 8 GB internal storage
- 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 AMOLED display
- White or Black polycarbonate
- LTE
- Rear camera with flash
The WC adds the following info, from their own sources:
- Glossy polycarbonate
- On-screen keys
- Metal around the display
- Displaces Lumia 640
- Speaker lower left on the rear
- Front-facing camera with flash
According to their sources the device bears a very close resemblance to the Lumia 640, except for the aforementioned front-facing flash and a slight lip around the rear camera to prevent scratches.
They do not expect the handset to be announced at Microsoft’s New York event on the 6th October, and in fact expect the handset to only hit the market in early 2016.
If true, the strategy strikes me as somewhat odd, but I suspect Microsoft is positioning the handset as a great upgrade to the very successful Lumia 535, which of course was sold on its exceptional wide-angle 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
