Samsung is getting ready to deliver a new generation of their excellent  Gear IconX truly wireless headphones for 2019.

The latest generation of the headset has now passed through the Bluetooth SIG, showing the earpiece has had an important upgrade.

Previously the headset only supported Bluetooth 4.2, but according to the certification, the earpiece will now support Bluetooth 5.0, which should mean even longer battery life and greater native support for truly wireless earphones.

Other upgrades previously rumoured is double the internal storage of up to 8 GB, meaning 2000 songs can be stored on the device, without the need for a phone.

The headset is likely to retain other features such as exercise tracking, and will be available in three colours – black, white and yellow. The IconX headsets have been lauded for their good noise isolation and good fit, meaning they are unlikely to fall out of your ears during exercise and are very good at blocking out ambient noise.

The devices launched last year for around $200, and this year’s generation will likely be around the same price.
