While Microsoft has been rumoured to be thinking of someday, maybe starting to make a foldable/bendable handheld personal computer, other companies have been putting money where their mouths are and attempting to bring such a concept to fruition. Lenovo showed off a foldable tablet earlier this year at Lenovo Tech World, leaker EVleaks has revealed that ZTE has a similar device in the works, and now Samsung has confirmed that it has plans to actually release one in 2018 – if things go according to plan.
“As the head of the business, I can say our current goal is next year,” Samsung’s president of mobile electronics, Koh Dong-jin said to reporters (via Bloomberg). “When we can overcome some problems for sure, we will launch the product.”
Samsung has been praised for its innovative smartphones in the past year, including the Galaxy S8 and Samsung Note 8, both devices which pack near bezel-less displays and support for Samsung’s desktop replacement software – Dex. All things considered, they’re pretty close to what Microsoft’s fans have been dreaming of in terms of hardware, and while they don’t run Windows, Android support allows them access to all Microsoft’s consumer apps which are available on Android.
Would a bendable, iris scanning, stylus packing, phablet be your dream productivity device –even if it runs Android? Let us know comments below?
