Microsoft released the Xbox One Summer Update earlier this month with one of the most requested features: support for Background Music. The update also introduced some other new features such a merged Xbox and Windows Stores, improved user interface, improved sharing features, and much more.

When Microsoft released the Xbox One Summer Update, the company stated that apps like Groove Music and Pandora will support Background Music on the Xbox One soon. Recently, Microsoft released support for Background Music on Groove Music on the Xbox One. Today, the company has announced that Pandora is also getting support for Background Music with a new update. According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, the Pandora app on the Xbox One will be updated over the “next 24 hours” which will bring Background Music support on the Xbox One. He tweeted:

In case you are wondering, third-party developers can also support Background Music on their apps, which is also very nice. Some developers are already using this feature — for example, there’s an app called USB Background Music which lets you play music from your USB in the background on your Xbox One. It’s also worth mentioning that Microsoft just started allowing all third-party developers to submit apps for the Xbox One, which means we may see lots of new apps supporting Background Music on the Xbox One pretty soon.
