Google announced a dark mode for YouTube for Android months ago, and after a false start, the firm is finally rolling out that features to all users.

I will point out here that we had initially reported that it had been rolling out months ago, but it appears that as simply a test toll out. The update is now widely available from the Play Store.YouTube users for iOS and the desktop web already had support for a dark mode. This can be activated through the Settings > General menu.

Google has been moving towards an Android dark theme the pst few months. Its YouTube Music app ships solely with a dark theme. The firm offers a messaging app with a dark thene, and promises users that the next ipdate to the phone app will bring a dark mode. Even Android P enables users to switch between a dark and white theme for the launcher. Well likely be seeing more dark themes in future as Google continues its work on Android design.

Google is rolling out this update now, though you may need a few restarts to finally see it.
