- Updates for Surface Hub 3 and 2S are coming in Q2-Q3 2025, alongside new Intel-powered Surface devices.
Surface Hub 3, the large interactive touchscreen that runs Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows, is getting two important major updates.
Microsoft said that soon, you can open Microsoft Edge on Surface Hub 3, and it will always run in InPrivate (or “Incognito,” if you’re more familiar with Chrome’s terms) so that it can close and wipe all the session data like credentials and browsing history when you’re done.
So with that, you can also share your Edge sessions on Hub 3 in Teams meetings, with a small Teams window for managing interactions and meeting controls.
The update also lets you access web apps, including Microsoft 365 tools and third-party apps, directly from the home screen. That also includes web apps from Microsoft like the Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, OneDrive.com, and other MS365 for web programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Microsoft also injects Surface Hub 3 with Miracast wireless projection, so you can easily share content for collaboration. It’ll even support both touch and pen input.
These features, set for preview in Q2 2025 and general availability in Q3, will be available on all Surface Hub 3 and Surface Hub 2S devices running Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
Elsewhere in the Surface-related announcement, Microsoft also launched the Intel-powered Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 for business. The company also updated that it’s launching 5G-enabled Surface devices for enterprises later this year, and they’ll also run an Intel chip.
